We are seeking a highly experienced Design Director to lead a superb team in delivering large-scale industrial projects across the Northeast of England. You will have extensive experience in EPCM or Construction Management, particularly in high capital value schemes exceeding £100 million. This permanent position as Design Director requires someone with a background in advanced manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, hospitals, M&E services, data centres, or similar complex environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of 5 in the existing Design Team, with plans to replicate this team for new projects.
Directly oversee project delivery, ensuring high-quality design outcomes and adherence to project timelines and budgets.
Collaborate closely with contractors currently managing the team, gradually assuming direct management responsibility.
Utilise expertise in both Contractor and Consultancy roles, with a strong track record in large-scale projects.
Travel regularly to project sites and attend meetings, including occasional travel for client and stakeholder engagements.Requirements:
Minimum of 10 years' experience in Design Management with a demonstrated history of managing design teams and delivering complex projects.
Proven experience in sectors such as advanced manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, hospitals, M&E services, or data centres.
Expertise in high capital value schemes, ideally £100 million and above.
Ideally have experience with both the Contractor and Consultancy/Client sides of large-scale projects.
Effective team management skills, capable of leading and motivating a diverse team to achieve project goals.You will report to the Regional Director, providing regular updates on project progress and strategic initiatives. You will have significant autonomy and decision-making authority within the design and project management functions.
