About the Role:

Our client is expanding its in-house engineering team to enhance support for contracts and projects. We are seeking a qualified individual with significant experience in a similar role, who is looking to develop and progress their career. The position is primarily office-based but will involve attending meetings and site visits. Some out-of-normal-hours work may be required based on specific project needs. The ideal candidate will reside within a manageable commuting distance from our office in Chelmsford.

Responsibilities:

Mechanical Services Design:

Use industry-standard software for calculations, including thermal modelling.
Develop mechanical services designs and produce technical documentation, including working drawings, schematics, installation detail drawings, technical submittals, and design calculations.
Project Coordination:

Liaise with clients, main contractors, design teams, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Coordinate service designs with the mechanical division and external contractors.
Maintain company standards and procedures in all work aspects.

Essential Attributes:

Educational Qualifications:

Minimum HNC level in Mechanical Services Engineering or a related discipline; ideally a degree level.
Experience:

Minimum of five years in a similar role or environment.
Skills:

Ability to work independently and as part of a team under senior management's direction.
Proficient knowledge of regulations and standards for mechanical and public health engineering installations.
Familiarity with mechanical services installations, materials, techniques, and applications.
Competency in general computer use, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project).
Proficiency in AutoCAD software.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing and managing workload and time effectively.
Problem-solving skills for technical challenges and value engineering alternatives.
Professional demeanor in client-facing roles, representing the company effectively.

Desirable Attributes:

Educational Qualifications:

HND or Degree level in Mechanical Engineering Services or a related discipline.
Experience:

More than five years in a similar role.
Experience using AutoDesk AutoCAD software.
