Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Sociology Teacher to join our dynamic Humanities Department for a temporary maternity cover from September 2024 to January 2025. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality Sociology education to Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 students, inspiring them to engage critically with the subject matter and excel in their studies.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Sociology lessons in accordance with the national curriculum and examination board requirements.
Create a stimulating learning environment that encourages student participation and fosters a passion for Sociology.
Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students, providing regular feedback to students and parents.
Develop and implement effective teaching strategies that cater to the diverse learning needs of students.
Participate in departmental meetings, parent consultations, and professional development activities.
Maintain high standards of classroom management and discipline in accordance with school policies.
Collaborate with colleagues to develop and share best practices and resources.
Person Specification:

Essential:

A degree in Sociology or a related field.
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
Proven experience teaching Sociology at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 levels.
Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Sociology.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve their best.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable:

Experience in using innovative teaching methods and integrating technology into the classroom.
Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within a secondary school setting.
Familiarity with the current curriculum and examination specifications for Sociology.
