Operations Assistant

Location: Thatcham

Our client, a well-established organisation, is seeking an Operations Assistant. If you are a proactive and detail-oriented individual with a knack for managing pressure, this could be the perfect opportunity for you

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate and manage international shipments, ensuring compliance with regulations and documentation requirements.
Liaise with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and customs brokers to ensure timely delivery.
Track and monitor shipments, resolving any issues that arise during transit.
Handle hazardous goods handling, packing, and documentation.
Prepare and manage import and export documentation.
Perform general administrative duties, including data entry, filing, and correspondence.
Procure materials and supplies, negotiating prices and managing purchase orders.
Collaborate with team members and international offices to ensure efficient workflow and communication.
Contribute ideas and opinions to improve team efficiency and processes.Qualifications and Skills:

Experience in international shipping is essential, with some experience in purchasing being ideal.
Familiarity with ERP systems and their application in shipping, logistics, and procurement.
Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word and Excel.
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Willingness to contribute at all levels and actively participate in team discussions.Working Conditions:

Full-time position, 37.5 hours a week.
Standard working hours of 8.30am - 5pm with 1 hour for lunch.
Collaborative and supportive team environment.
22 days holiday allowance plus bank holidays.
