The team oversees the maintenance of over 1000 structures, many with historic significance. This role offers a rich and varied workload, as these structures play a critical role in the local transport network, with many dating back to the 12th Century.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the preparation of designs for diverse bridge replacement, strengthening, and maintenance schemes.
Collaborate closely with project managers, commercial, and construction teams to plan and execute these schemes within budget and timeframe.
Line manage and mentor team members, ensuring work is conducted safely and efficiently.
Engage in asset management activities including principal and special inspections, structural assessments, and sub-standard structure reviews.
Provide technical support to various highway and transport schemes.
Assist in the professional growth and development of trainee and graduate engineers.

Job Requirements:

Substantial experience in highway structures inspection, maintenance, design, asset management, and construction.
Collaborative experience with clients, contractors, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary design teams.
Good working knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Specification for Highway Works, and Eurocodes related to highway structures.
Proficient in structural analysis and design software such as LUSAS, TEDDS, RING, and AutoCAD.
Relevant Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
Chartered Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers or an equivalent professional qualification.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a team-oriented approach.
