Job Summary
The purpose of this post is to:
 Manage Cancer and Palliative Care Services across the Trust working with clinical and senior professional staff.
 Work with Divisional leaders to ensure high quality services for cancer and palliative care patients, in line with national performance standards.
 Work with external partners to maintain and improve services in line with national, regional and local strategies for Cancer and Palliative Care
 The post holder will be a member of the Trust’s Senior Manager on call rota which requires out of hours commitment.

Primary duties and areas of responsibility
Core responsibilities to develop and support delivery of the Cancer strategic priorities aligned to the Trust strategic objectives. This will include.
 Supporting delivery of cancer services in accordance with national waiting time standards
 Identifying need for improvement and support clinical and operational teams to develop and deliver recovery/improvement plans and services change, ensuring they are fit for purpose.
 Engage with clinical and operational staff to recover performance and deliver improvement programmes.
 Proactively drive the strategic agenda for Cancer, acting as a subject matter expert
 Have oversight and a detailed understanding of the national planning and performance objectives that fall within the annual planning guidance. Interpret the ask and translating into delivery plans in conjunction with Clinical and Operational Service Leads.
 Remain up to date with the national agenda and drivers for cancer including the intentions set out in the NHS long term plan, horizon scanning for future initiatives and priorities.
 Maintain a close working relationship with the Cancer Alliance, ICS and external partners.
 Represent the organisation at key internal and external stakeholder meetings.
 Work autonomously, acting a senior leader within the organisation. This will involve motivating and empowering clinical and operational teams to deliver Cancer improvement, negotiating and influencing others on a broader level than the Cancer Team.
 This is a cross divisional role that will also include links with tertiary centres. Creating and maintaining cross relationships across the organisation and outside of the Trust will be essential.
 Daily, direct management and oversight of the MDT coordinator service
