Become a Skilled Slinger in Portsmouth Harbour

We're seeking an experienced Slinger to join the maritime team. As a Slinger, you'll be at the heart of operations, ensuring safe and efficient lifting processes.

The ideal Slinger will have:
• NVQ 2/3 qualifications
• CPCS/NPORS certification
• Understanding of regulations crucial for Slingers (LOLER, PUWER, BS7121)

As a Slinger, you'll use various lifting equipment, operate overhead gantry cranes, and be involved in all aspects of slinging and fleeting. Slingers also contribute to creating lift plans and risk assessments.

Key Responsibilities in this Slinger role:

• Ensure compliance to all policies, procedures, standard operating practises, with recommendations for action and continuous improvement

• Ensure all equipment, plant and accessories being used/operated are in test/examination date and in a safe, useable condition

• Validate all work is to be undertaken law all relevant site rules, regulations which include LOLER and PUWER, standards and company policies

• Complete all administrative tasks in conjunction with the role i.e. as part of a team and assist in creating risk assessments, pre-use check sheets, standard/complex lift plans etc

Skills Required for being a Slinger:

• NVQ 2/3 or equivalent qualifications/experience

• CPCS /NPORS or equivalent

• An understanding of LOLER, PUWER, BS7121

• Experience of general lifting operations using various lifting equipment within a maritime and facilities environment, conducting fleeting operations using various capacity chain blocks
