Proactive Personnel are currently looking for a Laboratory Technician to start work in Darwen, Lancashire on a permanent basis. This position primarily focuses on overseeing the quality control regimes, monitoring material trends in the laboratory and on the shop floor, and leading/supporting continuous improvement initiatives through production trials, data gathering, data analysis and process improvement actions.

Responsibilities:

Receiving inspection of raw material as per plan and feedback to Quality Supervisor and Technical Engineer.

Specification and quality of mixed materials.

Specification and quality of daily materials used across the factory.

Data recording, analysis, writing reports, reviews, and summarizing findings of experiments and trials.

Maintain and monitor quality control results, including the identification of unusual data.

Develop testing as material understanding and business needs change.

Consult within the manufacturing process, ensuring lab SOPs are kept up to date.

Communicate with the Supplier Quality team on raw material quality issues and follow-up.

Assist the Quality department in their duties.

Provide material support to production in all required areas.

Assist special projects required by the Quality Supervisor and Operations Manager.

Calibration activity – total management of Calibration System.

Plant effluent (environmental) control. Wastewater treatment monitoring and sharing of test results with Quality and EHSS.

Carry out material continuous improvement projects.

Qualifications

Science-based background and related qualifications.

Previous laboratory experience in a manufacturing environment.

Well-rounded IT skills with a good understanding of the MS Office suite, particularly MS Excel for data analytics and MS PowerPoint for reporting.

Methodical and analytical approach to work and data management.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work under pressure and as a team player.

Awareness of BS EN ISO 9001:2015

Exposure to ceramic materials a distinct advantage, but not essential

The hours of work are Monday to Friday 07:30am- 16:30pm.

Salary is £27,000.
