We are very excited to be working with Brighton and Hove Council, recruiting for Class 2 Refuse Drivers to cover Brighton and the surrounding areas. There is potential for this to be a long term position and so you must be committed.

Shifts: Monday to Friday, 06.00-Finish. Occasional weekend days will be required and paid at a higher rate, particularly during peak summer seasons and around Bank Holidays

Job role:

Responsible for driving a Class 2 vehicle and operating the machinery for the refuse loading
Reporting any issues to the Transport team, including vehicle and machinery concerns and faults, missed collection reasons and any issues encountered on the route
Collecting and emptying commercial and residential waste and recycling refuse bins
Happy to load when necessary, requiring coverage on foot
Guiding the driver through tight situations and crowded areas
Attending training as required to remain compliant with Health and Safety regulations
Comply with regular DVLA checks
Adherence to all regulations. A site induction and full training of the job role will be provided with familiarisation of the local areas. Requirements:

A full and valid Class 2 LGV/HGV vehicle licence
No more than 6 points on your licence Valid digital tacho card and CPC card
Minimum of one years' experience driving a class 2 vehicle in the UK
You must be personable and friendly as you will be working with the public.
Able to lift heavy objects, including pushing and pulling refuse and recycling bins
Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Previous experience of driving a refuse lorry is preferred but not essential.
