MPI have a requirement for a Generator Engineer to work full time on site in Fareham, Hampshire in a full time role.
Responsible to:: Senior Generator Engineer
Standard Hours: 40 hours per week, from 08:00 to 16:30, Monday to Friday
Rate of pay is dependant on the level of experience that you bring to the role and will be discussed at the time of submission. Starting at £38K
Our Client is looking for engineers who have experience of Control Systems (upgrading & fault finding control panels & reconfiguring controllers) and would perhaps be considered senior engineers.
Purpose of role:
The primary purpose of this role is to perform servicing, remedial and repair works to diesel generators and associated equipment. These responsibilities extend to work conducted both in the workshop and at customer sites across the South Coast, and occasionally further afield.
As a Generator Engineer, you will also play a crucial role in building strong customer relationships and will uphold our Company’s professional image while consistently exceeding customer expectations.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
Perform standard servicing and routine maintenance on a diverse range of standby diesel generators and associated electrical equipment
Conduct comprehensive fault diagnosis in both mechanical and electrical disciplines and implement necessary repairs
Carry out load bank testing, fuel testing & polishing procedures
Conduct site surveys & inspections of generator sets, and associated equipment
Assist with the installation and commissioning of various standby power equipment
Install and connect both planned and emergency hire generator sets
Ensure the prompt and accurate completion all job reports, providing detailed information
Offer expert recommendations to ensure jobs are completed professionally and within specified timelines
Participate in the callout rota for addressing out of hours issues
Mentor and provide on the job training and supervision to Apprentices and Generator
Technicians
Other general administrative duties such as:
Provide technical assistance to internal departments and customers as needed
Identify & report additional sales opportunities, including parts & labour pricing
Assist the Senior Engineer with monitoring and compliance of the Health and Safety Regulations, including workshop risk assessments & COSHH data sheets

Essential
A recognised Mechanical/Engineering apprenticeship or level 3 NVQ, BTEC or City and Guilds in plant maintenance, mechanical engineering or suitably related engineering discipline or has demonstrable experience working as a diesel generator engineer.
Full UK Driving Licence
Has experience working in a Field Engineer role
Desirable
Previous electrical knowledge and/or experience working with high voltage
18th edition Electrical installations BS7671 certified
ECS/CSCS Card
Has experience of working with UPS and associated equipment
You will need to be able to obtain Security Clearance, therefore you must have resided in the UK for minimum of 3 years and hold a UK Driving License
