Modern Edge Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Groundworker to join our team in London. As a Groundworker, you will be responsible for assisting in various construction projects by preparing and maintaining the ground, laying foundations, and installing drainage systems. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
Duties:
- Excavate and prepare construction sites by clearing debris, digging trenches, and leveling the ground.
- Assist in laying foundations for buildings, roads, and pathways.
- Install drainage systems, including pipes and manholes.
- Operate machinery such as diggers and compactors to aid in construction tasks.
- Backfill excavations and compact earth to ensure stability.
- Assist with concrete pouring and finishing as needed.
- Follow health and safety regulations on-site at all times.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure project deadlines are met.
Experience:
- Previous experience working as a Groundworker or in a similar construction role is preferred.
- Knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans.
- Experience operating construction machinery is a plus.
Skills:
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
Work Environment:
