School Cook

Rotherwood Education are currently recruiting for a School Cook to join a dynamic Primary School in Skipton. This is a full time ongoing role starting ASAP.

The ideal School Cook will be capable of preparing and presenting food to the highest standards for our customers.
They must be able to work with all staff equally and be able to work effectively as part of a team with all staff.

Main Responsibilities:

* To plan, prepare & cook a variety of meals to meet the dietary needs of all school children.

* To maintain a high standard of food presentation.

* To make mealtimes a pleasing and pleasant experience for all children.

* To follow a cleaning schedule to ensure the highest standard of cleanliness complying with Health & Safety Procedures, Food Safety Act (1990) & Food Safety (General Food Hygiene) Regulations 1995.

* To liaise with external regulators regarding issues concerning food hygiene and health & safety.

* To support safety standards within the kitchen.

* To support a stock control system to ensure that food stock is not wasted.

* To ensure the daily and accurate upkeep of food safety recording as determined by the Food Standards Agency, Safer Food Better Business and other legal requirements.

* To ensure food costs are controlled in line with school budgets.

* To maintain the school’s commitment to equal opportunities & promote non-discriminatory practice in all work aspects.

* To take responsibility for your work and ensure it complies with all statutory requirements and procedures as determined by the school you are positioned at

* Cater for and have an awareness of individual pupil’s needs and dietary requirements and adapt menus accordingly.

* Attend all training CPD sessions.

* Follow school policies and practices and comply with Safeguarding procedures.

* Lead the team of staff in a professional, supportive manner.

* Implement the principles of the School’s Equal Opportunities Policy whilst carrying out the above duties.
