Assistant/Intermediate Quantity Surveyor

We are working with a client who is looking for a Assistant/Intermediate Surveyor to join their team in London.

Ideal candidate would come from an Electrical or M&E background or have experience working for a sub contractor and know want to work for an Electrical subcontractor.

Assistant Quantity Surveyor roles and responsibilities:

Assist in the control of all financial aspects of projects to ensure the smooth running of the Quantity Surveying Department in order to deliver Company objectives including, but not limited to.

* To prepare timely valuations in accordance with the contract documents.

* To detail variations and advise the client accordingly.

* To liaise with appropriate Contracts Manager and other internal teams

* To maintain a timely CVR system for the company.

* To raise sub-contractor orders and payment certificates on computerised system.

* To adhere to all company policies and procedures.

* All other adhoc duties for the benefit of the company in line with position held.

* Ability to accurately value works.

* Ability to accurately measure works on site or from drawings.

* Set up files in line with the standard filing structure, in order to maintain a high standard of records and general efficiency.

* Ensure that financial information that needs to be communicated to others is reported accurately and to time.

* Adept in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word.

* Familiar with Microsoft Project.

The Assistant Quantity Surveyor must have/be:

Personality:

* Self-driven, results orientated with a positive outlook.

* Good planner and able to assess own performance.

* Reliable, tolerant, empathetic, team player.

* Sufficiently mobile and flexible to attend evening meets/forums and work unsociable hours from time to time.

* Well-presented and business like.

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Literacy and Numeracy:

* Good commercial awareness and numeracy skills.

* Good report writer and good record keeper.

* Ability to read and understand contract, specifications, drawings, letters, programme, reports etc.

Management Ability:

* Excellent people management skills, personable, and good communicator.

* Able to maintain excellent Client and supply chain relationships.

* Able to work to tight deadlines and under stressful conditions.

* Able to performance manage personal and business goals.

* Able to self-manage punctuality, attendance and time.
