Job Title: Head of Data Engineering
Location: Birmingham (Hybrid, flexible)
Role Type: Fixed Term Contract (12 months)
 
Our client seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Data to lead their Data Engineering Team. The role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of their data services and driving the delivery of various development projects aligned with their data strategy and change project portfolio.
 
Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Development: Lead, develop, motivate, train, and mentor a forward-thinking, customer-centric Data Engineering Team. Foster a high-performing culture that meets the current and future needs of the business.
Team Management: Oversee your team of data engineers to ensure efficient operation of data services and successful delivery of development projects.
Strategic Delivery: Drive the Data Engineering team to provide solutions that meet business information needs and align with the Data vision and strategy.
Continuous Improvement: Utilise analytical tools, transformation, and automation processes (e.g., Python, SQL, Java) to enhance business efficiency and meet needs.
Resource Management: Collaborate with the Data Product Owner to understand resource demands, navigate constraints, and support the business in achieving transformation milestones.
Incident Management: Provide support for BAU platform incidents when needed. 
Essential Experience:

Proven management professional with strong leadership experience and technical expertise, particularly in Data Engineering.
Experience within a financial organisation is highly desirable.
Demonstrated experience in leading both development and operational aspects of data engineering services.
Expertise in designing and implementing data solutions on Azure, using Data Lake Storage and SQL Database.
Track record of managing the operation, maintenance, and support of data services, preferably on cloud platforms.
Experience in delivering solutions that offer insights into complex data sets.
Excellent stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence and build strong relationships through collaboration and teamwork.
Familiarity with scrum agile methodology, including practices such as stand ups and backlogs.
