ROLE

You will be responsible for delivery of the technical strategy for the business, ensuring that products are always safe and of the best quality, as well as the day-to-day monitoring of the food safety systems. You will be accountable for all technical and QA activities within the business. You will support on key decisions in this fast-moving business that is very innovative in this industry, whilst maintaining the Company family culture. Direct Reports include Technical Manager, QA Manager and a team of 6 QAs.

You will be responsible for delivering high levels of GMP, food safety and integrity standards.
Responsibilities Include:

● Supporting the Technical Director in the overall technical strategy, tactics, policy & plans
● Responsible for the company’s quality management system to ensure compliance with standards and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) procedures on food handling
● Representing the business on technical-related matters where required
● Coordinate all quality assessment and laboratory activities
● Ensure that both inbound and outbound goods and packaging meet required specifications.
● Leading customer and industry-specific audits at each site
● Responsible for the internal audit programme of the business
● Lead the site HACCP programme
● Manage non-conformance investigation and resolution
● Effective management of the GMP auditing system
● To provide leadership to the technical team. Ensuring personal objectives are met.
● To ensure an environment of team engagement, training and development is progressed
● Working with Operational, Marketing, HR, Finance, Sales Teams and Producers to ensure smooth relationships
● To continually motivate all the team and build capability and morale, ensuring day to day positive management with staff reviews and developing the team to their potential.

The Applicant:

● Educated to degree level in food science, technology or processing
● Passionate about developing teams, empowering people to achieve and flourish
● We are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual with a solid technical / QA track record within food manufacturing.
● You will also be Food Safety and HACCP Level 3 qualified
● Experience of implementing digital audit and technical systems is preferred
● Working knowledge of raw material & packaging specifications
● A detailed understanding of retailer codes of practice and the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety is essential
● Project and change leadership experience
