Sterling Recruitment Services are looking to recruit a time served Fabrication Shop Supervisor for our client based in Billingham.

Our client specialise in high-quality steel fabrication serving clients across the UK & Europe.

As Workshop Supervisor your main responsibility will be leading and managing the team whilst maintaining quality and safety standards.

The Role

Operational
Manage the workshop production and efficiency of the team to ensure all projects are manufactured within quoted and budgeted man hours.
Ensure all operations are carried out in compliance with company requirements and standards.
Oversee the receipt of materials to ensure they correspond to the paperwork and certificates received.
Complete stock audits as requested and identify any stock requirements and communicate appropriately.

Leadership
Responsible for the recruitment, selection, development and engagement of employees. Ensure all new employees are inducted correctly.
Ensure communications with employees are regular through toolbox talks and one to one meetings.
Proactively deal with resource challenges and communicate to management.
Collate time sheets and ensure hours are accurately recorded and coded correctly.

Health & Safety
Ensure all work is carried out in adherence to health and safety standards.
Display all workshop risk assessments and method statements and ensure they are being adhered to by the team.
Ensuring the team are using the correct PPE.
Carry out safety inspections.
Report accidents and near misses and deal with appropriately.

Quality
Understanding of welding and fabrication procedures and welder qualification.
Ensure works are carried out in accordance with processes and completing all necessary documentation.
Oversee the goods in process to ensure traceability of all materials and consumables comply.
Ensure up to-date drawings and work instructions are in use at all times.

The Successful Candidate
Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience as a Workshop Supervisor in a similar role.
Extensive experience in the heavy fabrication industry.
Excellent people leadership skills combined with good communication and interpersonal abilities.
Working to Engineering standards.
Demonstrable a high level of technical knowledge with practical application.
A high degree of computer literacy
