On behalf of our client, we are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Buyer to join their procurement team. The Assistant Buyer will support the procurement process, ensuring that all materials, equipment, and services are sourced efficiently and cost-effectively. Additionally, the role includes managing the acquisition and maintenance of plant equipment to support construction projects.

Assistant Buyer

Assistant Buyer

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in sourcing and purchasing materials, equipment, and services required for projects.
Evaluate and select suppliers based on price, quality, and delivery capabilities.
Prepare purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of procurement activities.
Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.
Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing agreements with suppliers.
Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to quality or delivery.
Assist in monitoring and controlling project budgets related to procurement.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to achieve them.
Analyse market trends and pricing to ensure competitive procurement practices.
Coordinate the acquisition, maintenance, and repair of plant equipment.
Ensure all plant equipment is compliant with safety standards and regulations.
Maintain accurate records of plant equipment inventory and usage.
Schedule and manage regular inspections and servicing of plant equipment.
Monitor inventory levels and ensure timely replenishment of stock.
Conduct regular inventory audits to maintain accuracy.
Implement efficient inventory management practices to minimize waste and reduce costs.
Work closely with project managers, site managers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements.
Coordinate with the finance department to ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments.
Support the procurement team in achieving departmental goals and objectives.

Assistant Buyer

Qualifications and Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role, preferably within the construction industry.
Knowledge of construction materials, plant equipment, and procurement processes.
Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
