Semi Skilled Operator - Rib Cell
Early shift 6 to 2.15 and 6 to 12 on a Friday
Rates: £15.38 PAYE / £20.75 UMB

Department Rib Cell Role Summary Working as part of an established team within the A380 department. This role is semi-skilled and will undertake a variety of activities focused on full assembly/build of aircraft components, including environmental sealing and limited product testing. On-the-job training will be provided. You will also have the opportunity to undertake NVQ Level 2 educational training, with a view to further development to undertake and/or complete an NVQ 3 in the relevant subjects and Skilled Operator status.

Essential Responsibilities

EHS - Promote a safe workplace environment without risk to health and minimize the environmental impact. Ensure that all Environmental, Health, and Safety policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are adhered to and that all accidents and incidents are reported.
Clocking and Booking - Ensure that all required clockings (time and attendance) and bookings (job costings) are made accurately and in a timely manner.
Housekeeping - Ensure that workstations are kept clean and maintained, with all tools and equipment stored correctly. Uphold a clear desk policy.
Quality - Ensure that all Quality standards, processes, and procedures are complied with. All work is completed with care and attention, minimizing wastage.
Cost Management - Support cost reduction and management initiatives through reducing unnecessary expenditure.
Knowledge & Skills - Keep knowledge and training up to date for necessary operations to the best of your knowledge and belief to achieve specification and acceptable standards for your role. For example, Approved Operator (AO) stamp(s) to be kept up to date.
Team Working - Must actively participate in team meetings and be prepared to share knowledge, coach and mentor trainees when required, and be willing to be trained in other areas.
Any other reasonable duties that fall in line with the level of the role.
Role Specific Will include but is not limited to:

Reporting directly to the section Flow Leader, you will participate within a team and work with functional specialists (such as engineering, Quality, etc.) to ensure production requirements are achieved safely, on time, and to the customer specifications.
Read and follow work instructions, specifications, and part drawings (accessed via PC).
Read and interpret engineering data, technical drawings, specifications, repair schemes, Manufacturing Procedures (MPs), and other approved maintenance data.
Accurately complete work route cards to maintain component traceability.
Operate under own initiative and work with minimal supervision.
A380 Assembly focus

Measuring and marking out of materials to carry out close tolerance hand fitting processes.
Application of assembly and strip-down techniques of mechanical permanent fasteners, which may include electrical bonding checks.
Sealing and jointing techniques for environmental protection painting, sealing, and alocrome of aircraft structures.
Pressure testing of Hydraulic pipework Requirements.
Good numeracy and literacy - Minimum 2 GCSEs at grade 4/C or equivalent in English and Maths.
Good IT skills.
Good attention to detail, planning, and problem-solving skills.
Strong work ethic supported by a real positive attitude to succeed.
Excellent communication skills.
Demonstrate the currency and competency of the key skill codes required within the department.
Shift working required.
There are certain aspects of this role that require mechanical/manual lifting of parts, so some lifting will be required, and you must be capable of undertaking activities with appropriate assistance if required.
Desirable Qualifications / Experience

Previous experience in manufacturing or engineering working environment.
NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a relevant subject.
Working understanding of the 5 S and lean principles.
Security Clearance Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance is required and must be maintained for this role. Please note that in the event that BPSS clearance cannot be obtained, you may not be eligible for the role and/or any offer of employment may be withdrawn on grounds of national security.
