Your expertise in minor injury care will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of healthcare services in our emergency department.
Responsibilities:
* Conduct thorough assessments of patients presenting with minor injuries, including lacerations, sprains, strains, dislocations and minor fractures.
* Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans based on assessment findings, including wound care, splinting, and pain management.
* Perform minor procedures such as suturing, wound irrigation, and foreign body removal as necessary.
* Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as X-rays and laboratory studies to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
* Collaborate with attending physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure optimal outcomes.
* Provide patient education regarding injury management, follow-up care instructions, and preventive measures.
* Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner.
* Stay updated on current trends, best practices, and evidence-based guidelines in minor injury care through continuing education and professional development activities.
* Demonstrate commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and adherence to regulatory standards.
* Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and initiatives aimed at enhancing the delivery of emergency care services.
Requirements:
* Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
* Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of practice.
* Certification or specialized training in minor injury care (e.g. Emergency Nurse Practitioner Certification with minor injury qualification).
* Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in an emergency department setting, with a focus on minor injury care.
* Proficiency in performing minor procedures such as suturing, wound care, and splinting.
* Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
* Commitment to providing compassionate and patient-centered care.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Previous experience working as a Nurse Practitioner in an emergency department or urgent care setting.
* Experience with electronic health record systems.
* Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Life Support (PLS)
