Secondary Cover Supervisor

Are you a teaching assistant ready to take the next step in your education career? We have a fantastic opportunity available to work as a cover supervisor in a secondary school in the Abergavenny area.

We're seeking an individual with experience, confidence, and a can-do attitude—qualities that are invaluable in a classroom setting. As a Cover Supervisor, you'll be responsible for supporting secondary-aged pupils and covering classes in the teacher's absence.

While the ability to speak Welsh is preferred, it’s not essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Covering secondary classes while the teacher is away
Maintaining classroom discipline in line with the school’s policies
Building positive relationships with pupils
Supporting pupils as they complete work aligned with the national curriculum
Upholding the school’s ethos and adhering to all policies and procedures
Collaborating with school staff and following the direction of the leadership team
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

A strong understanding of the National Curriculum
Experience working in a secondary school setting
Effective classroom management skills
Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) or willingness to register
A passion for improving educational outcomes for all pupils
Excellent organizational and communication skills
The ability to support and promote the school’s ethos
