What you'll do: The successful apprentice will experience working with a telecoms design team working on a major UK-wide Rail Projects and delivering telecoms designs for Network Rail.
While working with the team, you will progress your skills, knowledge and your personal development in your career path in Rail Design project.
You will gain a valuable insight to the inner workings of a design team who are currently delivering 10 projects with a total cost of £15m.

Develop a solid understanding of the projects and learn how Rail communication systems are designed, used and developed.
Learn how to produce detailed design using Design Tools such as; Visio and AutoCAD.
Gain an understanding of the design lifecycle aswell as gaining an insight into client requirements.
To assist the Design Team with the delivery of key design projects and working towards strict deadlines.
Escalate design issues where necessary and help manage the mitigation of risks and issues.
To understand and adhere to the Health & Safety requirements of the UK rail infrastructure.
How to interface with other operational engineer departments.
Produce and update project resource plans to assist with design delivery.
Liaise with our client project timelines.
Who you are & what to prepare for: We don't require individuals with experience as we will provide full training in all aspects of the role from how to use tools or software.
We are looking for candidates with the right attitude, commitment, and desire to learn.
You will get a mobile phone and a laptop as part of the role Although supported throughout the programme by us at Telent you will need to take ownership of your tasks and personal development The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, planning and organisation skills with the ability to use initiative with a positive, resilient work ethic.
The requirements: 5 minimum of 5 GCSEs grades 9 to 4.
Specifically, in Maths, English and Science or an IT related subject (A to C).
A-Level or equivalent in Maths or Engineering subject desirable but not essential.
Must be eligible to work in the UK.
Must be over the age of 18 by September 2025.
Full UK Driving Licence Must be able to pass a pre-employment Drugs and Alcohol test (a safety requirement of working on/for UK Railways).
Programme Specifics: This apprenticeship is typically 30 months in duration.
Starting salary of £17,500 which will increase throughout the duration of the programme.
The qualification you gain will be a Level 3, Rail Engineering Design Technician Our chosen training provider National Training Academy for Rail will support you in obtaining your qualification Predominantly office based at home but with frequent visits to our Warwick site and out on client sites.
On completion of your apprenticeship, we hope to offer you a full-time position with Telent where you can continue to pursue your career.
You will be mentored by colleagues, supervisors, managers and tutors throughout the programme.
