Summary
AMS is a fast-growing accountancy practice aiming to be a top 50 firm in the next three years. We are looking for talented individuals to join us on our exciting journey. Based in our Manchester head office, you will attend college for "off the job" training and be allocated a dedicated mentor to support you in your "on the job" training.

Annual wage: £18,000 a year
In addition, the company operates a discretionary bonus scheme which is paid annually and on pay reviews taken place in September of each year.

Training course: Accounts or finance assistant (level 2)

Hours: Monday - Friday, 9.00am - 5.30pm, 37 hours 30 minutes a week.

Possible start date: Monday 4 August

Duration: 3 years

Work
As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you'll do at work

The successful candidates will be working predominantly in our busy audit and accounts team and will be trained across a number of disciplines.

  1. Preparing accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships
  2. Assisting on the audit of financial statements for limited companies and other specialist entities
  3. Exposed to a variety of areas such as VAT, personal tax, corporation tax, and working on ad-hoc tasks across our busy department
  4. Assisting other members of our team in the successful running of the office and providing a high standard of service to our clients

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation's standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements.
Your training plan
  • Alongside your normal duties, you will also be granted one day a week day release to study towards the AAT qualification.
  • Starting at level 2, you will progress through level 3 and level 4 to become AAT qualified within 3 years.
  • On the successful completion of your AAT qualification, you will then be enrolled onto the ACCA or ACA qualification and spend a further 3 years studying.
  • AMS strives to develop individuals to benefit the team as a whole and gives all members of staff the opportunity to fulfil their own personal goals through a fully supported but challenging environment.
  • Personal development plans are set throughout the programme, and on-the-job training is provided from designated mentors and senior staff.

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:
  • Including Maths and English (grade 4 A*-C/9-4)
A Level or equivalent in:
  • Subjects N/A (grade 3 A*-C)
NVQ or SVQ Level 3 or equivalent in:
  • Subject N/A (grade pass)

  • Progress on to ACA or ACCA qualification which takes a further 3 years.
  • On completion of the six years, a successful candidate will progress to a qualified accountant and onto our management programme.
