Highly Specialist Systemic Psychotherapist

We seek to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Family and Systemic psychotherapist to join our energetic and dynamic Bromley CAMHS Adolescent Team.

The successful candidate will deliver high quality, evidence based, systemic psychotherapy service to young people between the ages of 11 -18 years, their families, carers and professional networks. You will become part of a well-established and resourced family therapy team and work alongside family therapy colleagues in our family therapy clinics as well as with clinicians of other disciplines based in the Adolescent Team.

There are excellent opportunities to contribute to the development, implementation and audit of services for families with children presenting with highly challenging behaviours. You will have ample opportunities for continuing professional development through supervision, training and regular local and trust wide meetings of the family therapists and systemic practitioners.

Our service sits within the large and diverse Bromley borough and offers a rich and stimulating environment from where to work. There is free parking, local park and very good public transport link with buses and trains.

Main duties of the job
  1. To provide a highly specialist systemic assessment of referrals of a significant and complex nature in order to formulate and implement plans for the treatment and/or management of a child's or adolescent's mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework and employing methods based upon evidence.
  2. To make highly skilled evaluations and decisions about treatment options taking into account complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the child, family or group, and their difficulties.
  3. To act as care coordinator, as required, taking responsibility for initiating, planning and reviewing of care plans and giving consideration to the views of patients, their family, carers, referring agents and other professionals involved in the network of care. This includes organising complex professional network meetings.
  4. To take part in the systemic psychotherapy training clinic of the locality team, providing systemic live supervision in the team as agreed with the Head of Systemic Psychotherapy and the Principal Family Therapist in the Borough Service.
  5. To contribute to the provision of clinical placements for trainee Systemic Psychotherapists, ensuring that trainees acquire the necessary skills, competencies and experience to contribute effectively to good mental health care and to contribute to the assessment and evaluation of such competencies.
  6. To contribute to overall service delivery and development as required.
