Enhanced Teaching Assistant

Pelton Community Primary School

Grade 3 £25,584 - £27,711

Actual Salary based on working term time plus 2 weeks £23,551 - £25,509

Are you passionate about supporting children's education and personal development? We are seeking an Enhanced Teaching Assistant to join our team at Pelton Community Primary School. In this role, you will assist in the delivery of the national curriculum and help raise achievement standards by using your advanced knowledge and skills. You will work closely with teachers in planning, monitoring, assessing, and managing classes, delivering learning to individuals, small groups, and whole classes.

To effectively manage challenging SEN needs and behaviours, you must demonstrate strong skills in de-escalation techniques, positive behaviour reinforcement, and creating structured routines tailored to individual needs. An understanding of sensory processing disorders, autism spectrum conditions, and emotional regulation strategies is essential. The ability to build trust and rapport with pupils, combined with patience, resilience, and adaptability, will enable you to provide the necessary support and foster a nurturing learning environment.

You will plan, prepare, and deliver learning activities, adapting them to meet individual needs, and assess and report on pupil progress. Your responsibilities include providing specialist support, offering guidance on social, emotional, and behavioural well-being, and facilitating inclusive participation in school activities. You will also support parents/carers in their child's learning and contribute to support plans and reviews.

Your role involves regular classroom cover, preparation and maintenance of materials, invigilation of exams, and supervision during educational visits and daily school activities. You will administer basic first aid and medications, ensure adherence to child protection procedures, and support pupils with personal care tasks.

To be considered, you must hold an NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent, and have GCSEs in English and Maths. Recent experience in an educational setting is essential, particularly with children with various needs. Strong communication skills, IT proficiency, and an understanding of child development, safeguarding, and behaviour management are required. Desirable qualifications include a current First Aid certificate and experience in multiple educational settings.

We value personal effectiveness, teamwork, and a calm, positive approach. If you are friendly, reliable, and eager to contribute to a supportive educational environment, we encourage you to apply. Join us in making a difference in the lives of our students.

The closing date for all applications is Midday Wednesday 29 January.

Interviews will take place at Pelton Community Primary School on Thursday 6 February.

For further information about the role please contact Elaine Robinson Office Manager on 0191 370 0260.
