This Java opening is with one of the world's most ambitious and cutting-edge robotics/AI companies, who proudly fly the flag for British research & development into awe-inspiring autonomous vessel and vehicle development. This role really stands out from the Java crowd - we are seeking a true engineer who can think big-picture style about complex systems...

Working in a small, agile squad in an R&D capacity, you will be designing and developing a massive-scale 2D/3D data processing system built on a service-oriented architecture that stores and analyses big data collected from their robots.

We really believe there is so much going on in this role to differentiate it from your run-of-the-mill application development position. Everyone loves working in an environment that leverages AI and ML, and this organisation are privileged to have strong partnerships with world-leading academic institutions and global robotics companies, and they are rare in so far as they offer significant internal funding for R&D projects, meaning your way will be a mixture of on-going developments for core commercial products, and exploratory work that treads at the outermost lines of software and robotics.

The ideal candidate will have a mix of experience in some of the following areas:

• Strong core Java experience (3+ years)

• Service Oriented Architecture

• Knowledge of SWING or BEANS

• R&D work, either via university or in a commercial arena
