Underpinning the excellent technical support that drives robust product supply are technical processes & strategies around knowledge management, manufacturability, technical validation approaches, and problem-solving in alignment with the delivery of the technical inputs needed for fulfilling the Company Business Growth Strategy. This is a full-time on-site Materials Specialist role specialising in polyurethane-based materials. This includes but is not limited to analyzing and testing materials, researching, managing inventory, and ensuring timely delivery of materials to production lines. You will ensure the robustness of Algreen commercial products and the performance of the related manufacturing processes and analytical methods. Developing and overseeing the strategy and capability building in the areas of material and product development to support the supply network.
Analysis of chemical, optical, morphological, and mechanical properties of polyurethane and other biopolymer products.
Investigations into product performances and failure mechanisms
Maintain high general housekeeping standards
Uphold a high standard of safety and quality levels
Supporting revenue protection and revenue acceleration to Algreen’s commercial portfolio by providing cross-product leadership to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in material innovation and characterization and by identifying the optimal strategies to achieve multi-site/multi-product development and production.
Maintaining technical knowledge in the area of subject matter expertise, including changes in the regulatory expectations and up-to-date advances in new technologies to aid in the improvement of raw material, intermediates, and final product investigational methods
Leading, mentoring and coaching other scientific leaders within their area of expertise, building future analytical capability in the organization aligned with the needs of our strategic workforce plan.
Being active in internal and external scientific communities and networks pertaining to expertise.

All these activities will have a significant impact on the overall success of Algreen and ensure the commercial viability of current products. These activities will help to ensure the availability of all Algreen products to the commercial organisation. The role, therefore, has a significant impact on both the financial and reputational aspects of the business.

Degree or PhD level or considerable post-degree experience in an appropriate subject area such as chemistry, chemical engineering, material sciences, or a similar subject area.
Background in biobased polymers in Foam, CASE (Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants and Elastomers), thermoplastic, reaction injection molding (RIM), Binders, etc
Experience of working within a laboratory
Understanding of characterisation and analysis techniques - SEM, FTIR, UV-Vis, TGA, MS
Demonstrates good computer skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Project planning and time management skills
Previous experience and training in problem-solving tools
