Under the direction of the Site Manager, you will be responsible for any out of hours issues across the campus and facilitate in the opening and securing the school’s buildings and external entrances, Additionally, as part of the caretaking team you will respond to maintenance requests, resolving defects and enabling the events in the school calendars. You will liaise with external contractors as required and conduct duties to maintain a safe and secure site.
Hours
This is a full-time role, 40 hours a week, excluding breaks. The hours are Monday to Friday covering a shift system between 05:30 - 23:00 and covering the weekends as part of a rota system. You are required to work such hours as are reasonably necessary for the proper performance of your duties. The role will require occasional work at weekends. At present we operate an early/late shift system Monday to Friday with a rota for weekend cover.
Duties
- Deliver onsite out of hour emergency situations in a professional and calm manner to ensure protection of the school's assets and to minimise disruption to business continuity.
- Undertake regular traffic marshalling duties to ensure the safety of the whole community during drop off and collections times.
- Facilitate small maintenance and repair work to enable the site to operate to its full potential and within safe working condition
- Provide security support through locking and unlocking areas of the site, being a visible and challenging presence to site visitors to ensure the safety of the school community and to protect its asset
- Operate site vehicles (automatic and manual) to facilitate the smooth running of the site
- Undertake maintenance tasks as directed, including the testing of the pools and fire alarms to ensure compliance
What We Look For:
We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and committed Residential Caretaker.
Qualifications
- Pool Plant Operative qualification or complete the necessary training within 6 months of appointment
- SIA Door Supervisor qualification or complete the necessary training within 6 months of appointment
- First Aid qualification or complete the necessary training within 6 months of appointment
Skills
- Basic DIY skills including the use of hand tools
- Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
Additional Requirement
- This role will involve a lot of walking and often carrying heavy objects
- Full UK Driving Licence
