Site Supervisor – SSE Framework Projects (SSE Cat 3 Authorisation Required) Start Date: November Rate: £350-£400 per day (CIS/Limited) Location: Oxfordshire Keywords: BESS, National Grid, SSE, Solar, HV Substation, 400kV, 275kV, 132kV, Civil Works, Site Supervisor, Site Engineer, Renewable Energy Role Overview: Turner Lovell is recruiting for A UK-based infrastructure and utility services provider with expertise in power, water, and digital infrastructure. They deliver complex projects across renewable energy, HV substations, and civil engineering sectors. We are seeking a Site Supervisor with proven experience on civil and enabling works, through to the coordination of M&E installation packages on high-voltage renewable energy projects. This position provides an opportunity to work on SSE Framework Projects requiring SSE Cat 3 Authorisation, delivering high-voltage substation and cabling works in line with strict safety, quality, and operational standards. The role offers long-term project stability and the chance to collaborate with a world-class international team on cutting-edge renewable energy infrastructure. Key Responsibilities: Day-to-day supervision of site personnel, subcontractors, and civil works associated with HV substation and renewable energy infrastructure. Ensure compliance with SSE operational safety procedures, CDM regulations, and National Grid Transmission requirements. Conduct weekly safety inspections, toolbox talks, point-of-work risk assessments, and maintain a proactive safety culture on site. Develop, implement, and enforce Method Statements and Risk Assessments specific to SSE Cat 3 operational requirements. Monitor project scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards to ensure timely and safe delivery. Provide leadership and mentorship to site teams, engineers, and safety personnel, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing. Oversee administrative duties, including compliance reporting, site records, and documentation for SSE Framework audit purposes. Manage civil works, including enabling works, access roads & section 278 works, sustainable drainage, reinforced concrete, SGT bunding, foundations, and HV cabling infrastructure. Essential Requirements: SSE Cat 3 Authorisation required; prior experience working on SSE or DNO high-voltage substation projects is essential. Minimum 5 years' experience on complex infrastructure projects (£15m+), including renewable energy, utilities, or petrochemical sectors. BSc, BEng, HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline. Full-time on-site commitment, with flexibility to meet project requirements. Strong understanding of Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards in high-voltage environments. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with experience managing multidisciplinary teams and client engagement on live construction sites.
