Specialist Paediatric Dietitian

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Eating Disorder teams based within the Southampton Specialist Community CAMHS Team. The team provides specialist assessment and mental health treatment to young people with eating disorders i.e., anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorders until the age of 18. The team consider the mental health and the neuro developmental differences each young person may have and the context of what might have led them to difficulties with eating. The team have positive working relationships with the Paediatric department within the University Hospital Southampton which helps to ensure the physical needs of young people are met when they are physically compromised, in relation to the presenting eating disorder. There are also strong links with the academic providers to ensure that young people can safely engage with education where appropriate.
We are looking for someone who has a passion for working in this specialist field, with evidence of relevant clinical skills and previous experience of eating disorders. Both teams are busy and hardworking, known for their friendliness, support and development opportunities. We are looking for someone who has experience of working with children, young people and their families with eating disorders, like anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. We would also like to develop the service assessment and knowledge of ARFID and to find appropriate dietetic interventions and strategies for these young people. We have been working with other local NHS Trusts to create a new organisation, bringing together all community, mental health and learning disability services from across Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Project Fusion is the name for the programme to create the new combined NHS Foundation Trust. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust will be bringing the services into a single organisation will result in more consistent care, more equitable access to services irrespective of postcode, and a more sustainable workforce and services. The new organisation will operate locally to ensure services can best meet the needs of different communities.The new Trust will be comprised of all the services currently provided by Solent NHS Trust and Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, the community, mental health and learning disability services provided by Isle of Wight NHS Trust and child and adolescent mental health services delivered in parts of Hampshire by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.TUPE is a legal process to ensure you transfer out of one organisation and into another, maintaining the terms and conditions of your employment.
Degree or equivalent in Nutrition & Dietetics
Masters level or evidence of equivalent post-graduate training in defined speciality
Recent experience of working as a clinical specialist in paediatrics
Evidence of policy / protocol development and implementation
Evidence of continuing professional development in a relevant clinical speciality
Evidence of experience in project planning and audit delivery
Experience mentoring or supervising students, dietetic assistants or junior staff
