Farran is looking for an experienced Production Planner to organize and assist the timely manufacturing of products. You will work closely with Purchasing, Finance, Senior Management and Engineering, and be ultimately responsible for the smooth running of production, specifically ensuring that all materials are available to production when required.

We expect you to have deep know-how in production planning and a strong leadership ability to direct and prioritise operations to achieve maximum performance. Decision-making and problem-solving will be part of your daily responsibilities, with focus on an efficient and productive planning process that meets customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

The post holder will report to Managing Director and will have the following responsibilities:

  • Lead production planning on a daily as well as long-term basis
  • Liaise with purchasing to ensure required raw materials are available for production when required
  • Determine the quantities of necessary resources (raw materials, workforce etc.)
  • Liaise with production team to organise the workflow to meet specifications and deadlines
  • Liaise with other managers to understand objectives and formulate plans
  • Streamline the goods in/out process to help maximise production efficiency
  • Review Bill of Materials and liaise with engineers and technicians
  • Proactively report material availability issues
  • Prepare Work Orders in MRP system for production
  • Assist the purchasing of equipment, maintenance work etc.
  • Report to upper management
  • Document technical knowledge in the form of notes and manuals
  • Communicate regularly with purchasing, shipping, engineering and senior management

Qualifications & Skills

  • Knowledge of planning processes & associated KPI’s
  • High level of proficiency of MRP software (Sage Accounts & CIM experience or equivalent would be beneficial)
  • High level of proficiency of Microsoft Suite, in particular Excel
  • Experience in reporting on key production metrics
  • Experience with stock controls would be beneficial
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills
  • Attention to detail, ability to multi-task and prioritize according to deadlines
  • Strong decision-making skills and result-driven attitude, self-starter
  • Bachelor degree in Business Administration or equivalent an advantage
