The charity has been created to ensure that Caphouse Colliery and Hope Pit are preserved as a vitally important part of our national heritage and protected for future generations. It aims to do this by keeping coal mining alive through collecting and preserving the industry’s rich heritage and creating enjoyable and inspiring ways for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to engage with the story of coal, and its aftermath. To do these things requires a safe, efficient, accountable, inventive and resilient organisation.

3. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Staff
4. OVERALL PURPOSE OF POST:
To lead on the development and delivery of the Museum's masterplan and capital projects, working across all teams to facilitate stakeholder engagement and consultation, as well as manage relationships with key contractors and funders. Alongside the development and delivery of capital redevelopments you will lead on any activity planning associated with capital projects where appropriate. Another key element of the role is incremental improvements to the current visitor experience in line with the Forward Plan.

5. KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Project management of planning, development and delivery of a masterplan as part of the Museum's Senior Leadership team
Development of funding applications in line with Fundraising Strategy
Resource planning and budget management
Manage communication and consultation on the development of plans and delivery of projects, including facilitating working groups
Management of procurement exercises, specialist supply contracts and value engineering exercises to ensure best value for money
Establish and maintain project controls to monitor progress, budget, risks and issues, reporting to Board, senior management and external stakeholders as required
6.1 Other Duties:
~ Undertake other duties at a comparable level of responsibility when required.

6.2 Special Features:
~ The Museum operates on 7 day working, so for the success of the organisation you may be asked to work occasional evenings, weekend and Bank holidays.

8. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Qualified to degree level
Multi-level inter-personal communication skills
Significant experience of managing both revenue and capital heritage projects
Significant experience of leading major museum or gallery redevelopment
Significant experience of developing external funding application for heritage projects
Knowledge and experience of working in museums and specifically the industrial heritage sector
Personable and presentable as befits an ambassador of the Museum.
Administrative and organisational skills
9. HEALTH AND SAFETY:
9.1 In accordance with sections 7 and 8 of the 1974 Health and Safety at Work Act ensure the health and safety of all staff and resources within the post-holder’s area of responsibility, i.e. delegated responsibility in relation to the post-holder’s duties and personal responsibilities.
9.2 In addition, the Management of the Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1992 detail the following:
Employees must inform their employer or supervisor of any work situation that might present a serious and imminent danger to health and safety.
Employees must inform their employer or supervisor of any shortcomings in the health and safety arrangements, even when no danger exists.
9.3 The post-holder must be aware of the health and safety implications of working with historic collections, buildings and large industrial objects.
