A leading engineering consultancy is seeking to recruit a Principal Structural Engineer to join their team based in Birmingham. You will play a pivotal role within the Buildings and Built Environment team delivering high-quality structural designs and assessment for projects in the leisure, education, residential, commercial, health and retail sectors for clients ranging from local and national developers and contractors to major private sector companies. You will have the ability to lead a project team, manage complex workloads, technicians, and engineers to achieve commercial viability of these projects.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  1. Acting as technical lead on projects large and small.
  2. Liaising with and leading other members of the design team to achieve a coordinated design solution that meets the Clients objectives.
  3. Carrying out structural engineering assessments and inspections of new and existing properties in steel, concrete, masonry, and timber.
  4. Ensuring that quality and consistency of technical output (drawings, reports etc.) is maintained.
  5. Preparing high quality technical reports including structural surveys.
  6. Liaising and attending meetings with clients, subcontractors and other professionals whilst representing the business in a professional and courteous way.

Skills & Experience Required:

  1. Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  2. Chartered Engineer status is desirable, preferably IStructE but experience and knowledge in other relevant professional bodies will also be considered.
