Graduate Quantitative Analyst

Working from home, travelling to London around 1 day a week

£40,000 plus Bonus and Benefits

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and solve advanced optimisation models (linear, integer, mixed-integer programming, etc.) to support cost, routing, refuelling, and emissions-related objectives within the shipping industry.
  • Balance the trade-off between precision and computational efficiency by fine-tuning models, adjusting solver parameters, and occasionally supplementing algorithms with heuristics or metaheuristics.
  • Analyse and interpret results, translating them into actionable recommendations.
  • Collaborate with the team to understand requirements, gather data, validate model assumptions, and create a robust suite of testing tools.
  • Implement optimisation solutions using tools such as Gurobi, CPLEX, or other solvers.
  • Document methodologies, assumptions, and results for stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in optimisation and operations research.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Operations Research, Optimisation, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in mathematical optimisation techniques, including linear programming (LP), integer programming (IP), mixed-integer programming (MIP), and nonlinear programming (NLP).
  • Experience with optimisation solvers such as Gurobi, CPLEX, or similar.
  • Proficiency in Python.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an affinity for complex and ambiguous problems.
  • Effective communication skills to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
