About The Opportunity Jacobs is a market leader in the transportation sector, working with major clients like National Highways, Transport for Scotland, Transport Infrastructure Ireland, Heathrow Ltd, Environmental Agency and the Welsh Government. From global mega-projects like King Salman International Airport to local initiatives with councils and transport authorities, we offer opportunities to make a real impact — both worldwide and in your own community. The successful candidate will be provided with on-the-job training using the latest software tools and exposure to an interesting mix of projects through concept stage to construction. You will be expected to provide colleagues with technical assistance and support in delivering rail civil design services, 2D / 3D modelling and drawing production throughout all stages of project development. Modelling and drawing works are typically provided using the Bentley suite of software programs. As a new apprentice within our UK Rail Civils team, you will have the opportunity to make your mark and influence the continuing growth of Jacobs, with UK-wide opportunities in the engineering and construction sectors. This role will provide you with exposure to a wide range of projects and we will support you to grow and develop into the areas that you find interesting. Whatever you decide to do, our friendly teams will help you along the way. Here's what you'll need At least grade B in GCSE Mathematics, grade C in GCSE English, and 3 other GCSEs (or equivalent) A keen interest in developing a career in engineering and construction Strong written and verbal communication skills Interest in new, digital ways of working, technologies, and automation Self-motivated and willing to work as part of a team Professional, positive "can do" attitude The ability to adapt and prioritise whilst juggling work and study priorities Enthusiasm and curiosity to apply your skills to solve real-world problems Empathy and listening skills to help you truly understand our clients' requirements A well-rounded person – worked in a bar? Been captain of a sports team or volunteered for a charity?
