The successful candidate will play a key role within the organisation by managing all commercial aspects of high-profile Energy projects.As a Senior Quantity Surveyor /Commercial Manager you will be responsible for the financial management of projects from inception, to tendering, negotiating and agreeing contracts, to commercially delivering projects worth millions of pounds. You will be an integral part of the project delivery team where you will hold key responsibilities associated with the commercial and financial success of each project.As the Senior Quantity Surveyor /Commercial Manager, you will have the following accountabilities:Take initiative to respond to customer requirementsUnderstand how economic factors that affects the construction industry.Provide commercial input to Value Engineering reviews for different forms of constructionManage the feedback of commercial data to Planning and EstimatingSupport the review tenders & cost data.Manage the preparation of Target Cost for a ProjectCo-ordinate the commercial team to ensure programme issues are identified and actionedManage the preparation and review of Earned Value ManagementManage the preparation of the monthly CVR and associated commercial reports.Report and explain the commercial progress to senior divisional staffManage the feedback of commercial data to Planning, Estimating, Marketing and SalesManage commercial aspects with Customer and stakeholdersEstablish client supply chain requirements & advise on alternative forms of contract & procurement arrangements.Formulation of management plans for resource procurement.Awareness of disputes resolution including options, structure as well as knowledge of the SCL ProtocolApplication of legislation and ability to liaise with legal expertsPreparation of Estimates & Tender submissions including the interpretation of specifications & preamblesCo-ordination of buying, accounts, production control/planning, supply chain management & procurement techniques, estimating & surveying functionsManagement and reporting of Commercial Risk and OpportunityManagement of disallowed costExperience in the recruitment and retention of staffIdentifies & targets the needs of individuals & selfManages team's PDRs, training & development including professionalGives feedback on strengths and weaknesses - connecting plans for development of individuals.Determine project commercial staff requirement & liaison with HR for recruitment including temporary staffInvolvement with Schools & Universities to promote the company as a potential employer and to support sponsored students.Liaises with all parties to ensure task/project remains on planIdeally, you will have a track record of managing and developing a commercial team and working towards or be a Chartered Member of RICS, ICES or CIOB. You will also act as a mentor/role model to other commercial staff on their journey to becoming professionally qualified.The following qualifications are essential:BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or experience equivalentThe following qualities/experience are desirable:CommunicationTeamworkLeadershipStrategic change ManagementAchievement Focus (Achieving Results)Business and Customer AwarenessPromotes organisational aims & objectivesManages customer needsManages opportunities & threats

  • The successful candidate will ideally be based in Aberdeen or willing to relocate.
  • * During pre construction you will be required to attend the office 2 days per week, however once Construction starts you will be required on site full time.
