Help us to develop a pioneering Scotland-wide path network for the benefit of all. This is a great opportunity to improve your confidence in navigation skills and help you learn more about your local area. You’ll work within your local area to audit data on existing paths or capture new, currently unmapped paths. You will need to familiarise yourself with the various options of doing this and the type of information we’re looking to collect.

We believe that everyone should be able access the outdoors in Scotland with confidence and there is great potential to improve the mapping of paths in Scotland, to help more people get active and healthy and to feel confident to explore our wonderful nature and landscapes. That’s why we need you to help us to develop a pioneering Scotland-wide path network for the benefit of all. You will need to familiarise yourself with the various options of doing this and the type of information we’re looking to collect.

What you will be doing
  • Participating in a short training workshop
  • Working with the Ramblers Scotland team to gather or capture data on paths in your local area
  • Audit data on existing paths or capture new, currently unmapped paths.
  • Accurately assessing local paths to best capture the type of information we’re looking for
  • Providing feedback on the process to help inform the project going forward
The skills you need
  • Familiarity with using phone or tablet-based apps
  • Able to use and understand interactive maps based on websites
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to identify the type of information we’re looking to collect and to familiarise yourself with the various options of capturing data.
