We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Designer for our multidisciplinary design and build contractor client on pharmaceutical industry projects.

This position offers a contract duration of 3-6 months (outside IR35) and will be in Macclesfield, with a competitive rate of £40-£48 per hour (Ltd Company). This is a hybrid role with 3 days in office and 2 remote.

Role Overview

The Senior Electrical Designer will play a crucial role in supporting the local projects team by providing expert Electrical Engineering, Design, and Consulting Services. This position demands a high level of autonomy and exceptional communication skills.

Applicants should possess a solid technical engineering design background, along with relevant experience in the pharmaceutical sector.

The Senior Electrical Designer will collaborate closely with the Multi Discipline Design Team and Project Manager to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of pharmaceutical projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and assessing customer needs.
  • Generating reports, scope of works, concept designs, and detailed designs (typically RIBA 2-4).
  • Supporting the timely, quality-driven, and cost-effective delivery of projects, with the ability to multitask and prioritise.
  • Creating documentation in accordance with defined standards and quality requirements.
  • Liaising with design and equipment subcontractors.
  • Leading performance improvement efforts by exploring, evaluating, and implementing innovative solutions where appropriate.
  • Collaborating with other disciplines such as Mechanical, Process, HVAC, and Civil.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Extensive experience (at least 5 years) in a relevant design role including successful delivery of electrical installation designs within projects for the pharmaceutical sector.
  • HNC or Degree in technical engineering related subject
  • Membership of professional Institution or similar body is desirable.
  • Experience in UK pharmaceutical construction projects is desirable.
  • Experience of E&I design best practices.
  • Project lifecycle experience (Concept through detail design to construction support)
  • Knowledge of data and administrative management practices and procedures
  • Sound experience and knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015
  • Undertake site surveys.
  • Provision of 2D and 3D Design Deliverables, GAs, equipment layouts and cable/containment routing diagrams
  • Experience in electrical building services design including LV Distribution, Lighting, Small Power, Fire Safety Systems, Security Systems, Structured Cabling etc.
