Join Our Team

You will be Senior Claims Adjuster, MGA & Program Claims. You will report to the Global Head of Claims. The Senior Claims Adjuster for MGA and Program Claims is responsible for oversight of all claim handling of Programs/MGAs/DUA and their in-house or TPAs who direct handle claims. This includes providing authority to settle and reserve claims above retentions, auditing and monitoring claim handling. This role will also assist in performing initial and annual due diligence of claim handling entities. Validating compliance is also a focus of the role as Programs/MGAs/DUA (or their claim handling teams or TPAs) should be compliant at all times with the terms of the insurance/reinsurance contract, best business practice, Lloyd’s minimum standards and SiriusPoint International, UK Branch and SIMA Syndicate 1945, internal policies and procedures.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Oversight of claim handling entities associated with Programs/MGAs/DUA to ensure authority is not breached, claims reporting is accurate and timely, consumer and customer service is compliant, quality auditing, and general monitoring of reserving and loss exposure.
  • Ensure compliance with claims handling routines for SiriusPoint International, UK Branch and SIMA Syndicate 1945
  • Evaluate reserves on specific claims and monitor adequacy of reserves
  • Establish and maintain appropriate claims reports
  • Interpret contract coverage upon referral from the Program/MGA in order to determine liability and extent of participation in claims.
  • Instruction of independent experts where required
  • All claims work must be performed according to Company policies and procedures, working within Treating Customer Fairly practices and in accordance with Lloyd’s Minimum Standards and Solvency II requirements and within assigned Claims Authority
  • Ensure that claims escalation authorities are strictly adhered to and that claims are accurately and efficiently reported to the relevant person
  • Maintain co-operation and regular interaction, including established routine practices with other functions within Siriuspoint. With particular reference to Senior Management, Compliance, Underwriters and the Actuarial team
  • Establish, develop and maintain relationships with brokers, ceding companies, lawyers and loss adjusters in connection with claims matters
  • Maintain CPD and knowledge of best practice for legal and compliance developments relating to the international insurance/reinsurance industry and claims environment
  • Monitor risk against agreed risk appetite/tolerances; escalating risk events/control failures and taking appropriate actions to report and assist claims leadership to address matters arising from these
  • Report any failure to comply with established Lloyd's and Company standards and customer complaints to Head of Claims and where applicable to the Compliance Manager
  • Supervision of key tasks and reporting within the Claims department
  • To perform all duties in line with the FCA Individual Conduct Rules as documented in the Employee Handbook
  • Any other duties as reasonably required

Technical Skills & Experience

  • ACII qualified or equivalent.
  • Significant claims adjusting experience which could include General Liability, Marine, Property, and some specialty lines (Transactional, Financial, Management). Proficiency in each type of claim listed is preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in a Lloyd’s environment is preferred.
  • Commitment to further training and knowledge gathering through attendance at market seminars, undertaking training courses and being active in relevant professional networks.
  • The ability to make good decisions within the confines of accepted claims turnaround practice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to represent the company (and its clients) effectively and professionally within the market.
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Team player, with the ability to mentor/assist in the development of employees.
  • Strong IT skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office.
