The role reports to the General Counsel and is based in the PayPoint head office in Welwyn Garden City. You will be a senior member of the wider PayPoint Group legal team comprising 10 lawyers.
This is a broad commercial role which involves leading and managing a small legal team of 3, supporting a high volume of contracts for all businesses across the PayPoint Group.
The role will include drafting and negotiating large, complex commercial agreements for innovative new FinTech services for PayPoint’s clients (including services provided by PayPoint’s FCA regulated businesses) in collaboration with senior internal stakeholders, advising on other strategic matters, supplier contracts and providing ad hoc commercially focussed legal support to the business, including on GDPR, data protection and data security issues.

Lead, guide and develop the Contracts and Commercial Legal Team to ensure an efficient and effective team that is able to meet the needs of the business.
Lead the team in its provision of legal support, allocating and prioritising work effectively across the team and providing guidance to team members as appropriate.
Draft and negotiate large, complex commercial agreements, including for PayPoint’s FCA regulated businesses in collaboration with senior internal stakeholders.
Provide expert advice and guidance on commercial matters relevant to PayPoint, including GDPR, data protection and data security.
Identify and resolve complex legal and commercial issues.
Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across the business to ensure that legal matters are understood and handled appropriately.
Manage external advisers and other stakeholders in the successful and timely delivery of transactions and projects.
Review and update existing precedent contracts and processes used by the Legal Department with a view to driving the efficient delivery of legal support to the business.
Collaborate with other members of the Legal Team to support a One Team approach.

The role requires an individual that is highly motivated and pro-active, with excellent attention to detail and ability to find sound legal solutions to challenging legal and commercial issues.
We are looking for a qualified lawyer, with a minimum of 5 years PQE with a strong academic background.
Proven commercial contracts expertise; Experience of GDPR, data protection and data security issues is essential.
Experience of working with FCA regulated business and a basic understanding of regulatory principles and themes is essential. Demonstrable people management/ supervisory/ team leadership experience.
Ability to identify and communicate key legal issues to a non legal audience.
Strong background in managing multiple tasks and developing and motivating a team in a fast-paced, performance-driven culture.
Excellent time management skills and ability to manage a high volume of work.
