Deputy Chief Executive

Key Role

  • To work closely with the Chief Executive to ensure PCP’s Strategic Plan is realised and to provide effective leadership across the organisation.
  • Assisting with overall organisational development, including income generation, quality standard compliance and business expansion or growth plans.
  • Working with the Chief Executive and Board of Trustees to ensure that all legal, statutory and safeguarding requirements are met.
  • Ensuring PCP continues to deliver projects and services that embody the mission, aims and core values of the charity.
  • To deputise in the absence of the Chief Executive.

Job Description

  • Supporting the development of a Senior Leadership Team to ensure PCP meets it objects, as set out in PCP’s governing documents; including ensuring public benefit is at the forefront of delivery and planning.
  • Working with the Chief Executive to embed the principles of good governance, including support trustees and attending PCP Board meetings to report and advise.
  • Ensuring robust stakeholder management and liaison, developing effective and mutually beneficial partnerships to aid PCP’s mission of Health, Wellbeing and Learning for All.
  • Taking responsibility for strategic leadership and organisational development of specific areas, in agreement with the Chief Executive.
  • Supporting oversight of PCP’s annual budget including proactively managing the delegated budget, ensuring the most effective and efficient expenditure of resources.
  • Ensuring comprehensive reporting structures are in place across all areas of PCP, including developing a robust system of evaluation in areas of responsibility, as an integral part of service development and continuous improvement.
  • Leading on the development of organisational and cross-cutting policies and procedures.
  • Leading on relevant funding applications and tenders as appropriate.
  • Establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships, communicating effectively with professionals within the organisation and with external partners, ensuring effective and committed partnership working both internally and externally.
  • Making complex, sensitive decisions based on professional judgement in relation to service users and their families, being aware of the Safeguarding Children & Adult procedures, and adhering to local guidelines and policies.
  • Ensuring staff and volunteer teams maintain consistently high levels of quality, delivery and service for those PCP aims to support.
  • Chairing strategic meetings as required including those involving external partners and staff from other organisations.
  • Ensuring implementation of any appropriate legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines and be involved in their development where appropriate.
  • Initiate and lead on internal audit and compliance, participating in research as required.

General

  • To uphold PCP’s Core Values at all times.
  • To strategically manage operational delivery and ensure PCP and funders requirements and standards are met.
  • To carry out the management role effectively whilst demonstrating PCP’s expected leadership characteristics. .
  • To operate within the policies and procedures of PCP, including confidentiality, safeguarding, information governance and data protection.
  • To support the organisational approach to Quality and continual improvement through becoming an internal auditor, environmental champion or health advocate.
  • To assist PCP’s marketing & engagement work and use creative techniques to gather views from the communities we support.
  • To be an ambassador for PCP and represent the organisation at a number of different meetings, forums and events.
  • To be responsible for the collation of appropriate monitoring and evaluation information to support the achievement of agreed targets and outcomes within the project or service.
  • To provide accurate and timely internal and external reports as required.
  • To liaise with relevant teams to ensure that opportunities are maximised for service users/clients.
  • To adhere with financial processes and procedures and ensure that all resources purchased are within the allocated cost code budget(s).
  • To work to develop and apply appropriate monitoring, evaluation and quality tools in accordance with the quarterly performance monitoring procedures.
