We are Spliced Inc. and we’re looking for a Lead Character Artist.

The Role:

As Spliced Inc’s Lead Character Artist, fostering a strong spirit of teamwork will be second nature to you and you’ll be at home working on a stylized AAA title. Creating and bringing characters to life will be your world and you’ll be excited by the prospect of working on a highly stylized game.

Key Responsibilities:

As part of the Art department, you will be responsible for leading a team of Character Artists to create visually stunning characters true to the Art Direction and overall vision for the game. You will be collaborating closely with the Animation and Rigging departments to help define and understand any technical requirements whilst driving the visual quality in game. Additionally:

  • Build, develop and lead our Character team.
  • Collaborate with the Art Director and Concept Art team to understand and implement the artistic vision and style of the game.
  • Initial Art benchmarking to establish style and quality standards.
  • Define working practices and authoring pipelines to ensure content is adhering to any defined structures and standards.
  • Effectively communicate with other disciplines such as Tech Art, Animation and Rigging teams to ensure characters can properly deform and can achieve the desired expression and movement in game.
  • Create performant and optimised character assets whilst maintaining visual quality.
  • Support team leadership in regular content reviews, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards and are in line with the project's vision.
  • Working with the Art manager and Production to effectively plan and manage milestone goals and tasks for your team.
  • Reviewing your team's tasks and delivering feedback to ensure a consistent style and quality are maintained.

About You:

  • Demonstrable lead experience working on a AAA title.
  • Expert knowledge of industry-standard software such as Maya, Zbrush and Substance Painter.
  • Confident with project scoping and planning; working with Production and your team on task timelines and prioritisation.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills to support and grow the team.
