Senior Process Engineer – Renewable Energy

Senior Process Engineer responsibilities:

  1. Provide day-to-day support for the Engineering design team activities, with a particular focus on process design/process engineering.
  2. Act as Process Design lead for site projects and small process changes.
  3. Attend regular process design/process change review meetings and provide technical guidance and advice to ensure safe, fit-for-purpose scopes are achieved and subsequently executed.
  4. Provide technical solutions for new plant/equipment and revamp of existing plant/equipment to improve functionality, safety, and reliability based on approved process designs.
  5. Prepare specifications for all new and revamped equipment and provide support for equipment purchases.
  6. Evaluate existing process units to support the plant/testing team troubleshooting, de-bottlenecking constraints, and improving reliability.
  7. Provide plant support when necessary, e.g. installation or change of equipment, operation of equipment.
  8. Liaise and work effectively with external engineering resource providers to support the design, deployment, and commissioning of the Balance of Plant of the different systems.
  9. Engage in the plant safety and the general company safety programs.
  10. Work with Testing Engineers to understand/help resolve upgrades to existing fuel cell systems and design of new fuel cell systems.

Background:

A degree in Chemical or Process Engineering (MSc preferred). Solid experience working in various Process Design Engineering roles in industrial environments. Good understanding of chemical engineering principles in terms of hydraulics, heat transfer, mass transfer, separation processes, and control/operation of associated plant. Good knowledge of process equipment and technology, sizing and preparing process equipment specifications, and preparing safety-critical calculations for protective and control devices. Ability to undertake chemical engineering calculations associated with the above chemical engineering principles. Ability to produce Process Schematics, PFD’s, and Heat and Mass Balances during the early design stage to review and agree with other stakeholders. Experience developing P&ID’s from Process Schematics, from front end to detailed design. Excellent collaborative and communication skills to engage with other engineering and scientific teams as well as with external stakeholders and suppliers.
