Oxford Oxfordshire, United Kingdom Wales Medicines Strategy Group Full time

We are pleased to offer a position for an enthusiastic and suitably qualified and experienced Clinical Psychologist to join our Adult Psychology and Psychological services in BCUHB. This is a new Service Improvement post to develop the role and service of neonatal psychology in our health board in North Wales.

The role is ideal for someone with the drive, innovation and ability to develop service pathways that will improve the experience of care within our Neonatal services. This is a permanent full time post with flexible working options. You will provide specialist psychological interventions to families and offer support to staff teams, using your knowledge and experience to provide teaching and consultation on psychological aspects of neonatal care.

There will be access to operational and clinical supervision alongside on going peer support and opportunities for continued professional development.

You will be linked professionally & clinically supported by the established Perinatal CMHT, and integrated within Neonatal Units to ensure more timely and appropriate wrap around services and pathways are in place.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

- Establishing a model of working psychologically in our neonatal settings

- Providing specialist psychological assessment and evidence based psychological interventions focused on issues specific to neonatal care for example trauma related to medical events such as resuscitation, adjustment to parenting in the context of critical care and /or disability for infants and their families. This complex work can involve supporting families at their most vulnerable including in the context of life changing diagnoses or bereavement

- Offering training, advice and consultation on the psychological care of infants and families to colleagues from other professional groups.

- Improving service links and a seamless transition to support the mother, infant, and family on discharge to the community which is a time of increased risk thereby preventing the escalation of difficulties and improving outcomes for infants, mothers, and families

- Work closely using a trauma informed approach with the wider neonatal teams, consulting on systemic interventions, communication and conflict resolution and contributing to the implementation of family centred care.
