Senior Test Engineer

Havant

We are seeking a Senior Test Engineer to join our dynamic team for our defence client. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the quality and reliability of our products through comprehensive testing and evaluation processes. You will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects within the global maritime and land-based industries, collaborating with passionate individuals and contributing to the success of our engineering products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project leads to capture test requirements and design comprehensive test plans.
  • Create test hardware, such as adaptor plates and test shafts, and manage rig operations.
  • Conduct risk assessments to ensure safe testing practices in alignment with QEHS standards.
  • Manage testing of external products at OEMs, equipment suppliers, and third-party test facilities.
  • Produce detailed test reports and present findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with QEHS requirements and contribute to maintaining classification society standards.
  • Mentor and support less experienced colleagues, actively participating in training initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of the test facility into a global centre of excellence.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a Test Engineering environment, preferably with mechanical seal assemblies.
  • Degree or Master's in a relevant Engineering subject.
  • Proficiency in interpreting design drawings and using CAD software.
  • Strong mechanical engineering skills and ability to perform relevant calculations.
  • Knowledge of the Marine industry and familiarity with classification societies and IMO compliance standards.
  • Experience with test monitoring software tools such as LabVIEW, Tetrascience, and enVigil.
  • Competence in setting up instrumentation and data capture equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with project leads and colleagues.
  • Strong attention to detail and experience in report writing.
  • Commercial awareness and willingness to occasionally travel.
