An interesting and challenging role for an experienced H&S professional to support the delivery of H&S management of a major corporation’s UK and Ireland business operations. Based at the corporate office in London; this role would suit a personable and dynamic individual who is a self-driven, effective communicator with a passion for health and safety and guiding continual improvement.

The Role:

To support the Client, under the lead of the Turner & Townsend Project Director overseeing the commission, in managing all matters relating to health and safety within the UK and Ireland building portfolio to maintain compliance with all legal and corporate requirements and help drive continual improvement.

Main Responsibilities:

Proactively:

  • Support the maintenance of a safe working environment for all and the wellbeing of building users and visitors.
  • Support the effective implementation of the Client’s Corporate Health, Safety and Wellbeing Strategy across the UK and Ireland operations.
  • Identify issues and help solve problems relating to health and safety in operations and the UK estate.
  • Promote a flexible approach to all health and safety issues and generally encourage a positive attitude towards health and safety throughout the organization in the UK and Ireland.
  • Provide functional direction and legal and technical health and safety advice and guidance to managers and staff.
  • Review management of construction works to verify no health and safety impact on operational staff / activities and non-compliance with CDM 2105.
  • Liaise with the Client’s facility management provider on health and safety matters and review their performance.
  • Prepare and implement a health and safety audit and assurance program.
  • Review, update and support implementation of building fire safety management arrangements.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver training and awareness initiatives.
  • Review, prepare and update policies, procedures, risk assessments, etc.
  • Investigate and report on accidents, incidents, near misses making recommendations to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Provide health and safety management reports, statistics and data analysis.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience of health and safety in large office-based operations and facility management (required)
  • Working in a financial institution (preferred)
  • Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) (Chartered status – preferred)
  • Fire safety management / oversight knowledge / experience (preferred)
  • CDM 2015 knowledge / experience (preferred)
