The Clinical Lead for Children's Physiotherapy is responsible for managing and developing the service, which provides physiotherapy across acute and community settings, promoting a learning culture and demonstrating leadership and innovation.


The children's physiotherapy team of 22.2wte supports the 7 day acute service based at St Mary's Hospital, including Paediatric Critical Care, Major Trauma, Infectious Diseases and Haematology GP direct access for paediatric musculoskeletal physiotherapy Neonatal services at St Mary's and Hammersmith Hospital sites and are contracted by CLCH to provide community physiotherapy for the Child Development Service.


The post holder ensures that children and young people receive a safe and effective Physiotherapy Service. Overseeing the department's management and development, the post holder takes responsibility for an existing committed team which includes Clinical Specialists for Musculoskeletal and Child Development Services, specialist and rotational physiotherapists. The service has a reputation for developing enthusiastic physiotherapists and excellent multi-disciplinary work.


This is a 12 month fixed term contract against maternity leave of the current post holder. They will be responsible for the day to day operational service planning and delivery of therapy services.They will be clinically accountable for delivery of the clinical service within area of responsibility and for the operational planning of a safe, effective service.
They will support the clinical service lead with the development and delivery of innovative service improvement projects focussed on improving quality of care and patient outcomes.They will support the clinical service lead in the strategic development of the service
They will support staff development from a clinical and non- clinical perspective acting as a good role model.In partnership with their clinical service leads, finance and human resources colleagues, they will deliver department plans which drive efficiency and quality initiatives across the Division. They will support the delivery of the Department's business plan.

Diploma/ Degree in Physiotherapy
Evidence of experience /post graduate training and education to Masters level or equivalent and CPD relevant to speciality area.
Health & Care Professions Council registration.
Evidence of post graduate training in basic research skills e.g. literature reviews, critical appraisal

Masters or PhD degree in relevant subject
Extensive experience post qualification with evidenced experience at a senior level within relevant speciality
Experience of incident investigation and implementation of change of practice as a result
Evaluation of clinical practice including participation in research/audit/service evaluation and quality improvement projects.
Experience of supporting a culture of research awareness

Skills in presentation and training in both formal and informal environments
Proven excellence in developing/and providing education and teaching to other professionals and students.
Ability to select and analyse activity and outcome data accurately and objectively to support service development
