THE OPPORTUNITY

Sii UK are hiring for a role of a Configuration & Data Manager. The Configuration and Data Manager plays a crucial role in tailoring and implementing Configuration Management Systems based on contractual and market requirements within their designated area. Their responsibilities include ensuring the consistency of configuration information, collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders, and potentially overseeing other Configuration Management Roles or delegating specific tasks to Configuration Administration Roles within their scope.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

To excel in this role, you should possess experience in the following:

  • You will ideally have a degree in an engineering discipline, and you have proven experience in the field of configuration management.
  • You have already worked in an integrated team combining specific developments and off-the-shelf solutions.
  • You particularly appreciate collaborative work and enjoy stimulating exchanges.
  • You have outstanding problem-solving skills and a passion to solve difficult issues.
  • You are looking for challenge through unforeseen events and business emergencies.
  • You are recognised for your pragmatism, commitment and rigor.
  • You have great knowledge of system integration principles (System, Hardware and Software).
  • You master relevant tools like those related to Palma Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).
  • You are able to adapt and assess the configuration management system as well as the contractual and commercial requirements within your scope.
  • You are able to manage complexity.
  • You are able to thrive forward in changing environments and manage changes.
  • You have knowledge in Hardware & Software CM practices and tools.
  • You are able to create buy-in explaining / detailing your needs and initiatives.

TASKS:

The primary activities encompass, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Organize Configuration Management Activities: Interface with Project Managers to plan and manage activities.
  • Adapting the configuration management system to meet contractual requirements.
  • Executing the configuration management system within the project, aligned with FLX Configuration Management requirements.
  • Ensuring consistency and completeness of project information in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
  • Configuration Management Plan: Establish and implement a comprehensive Configuration Management Plan.
  • Specify Requirements: Define configuration management requirements for subcontractors and suppliers through statements of work.
  • Configuration Item Selection: Participate in selecting configuration items and establishing breakdown structures.
  • Identification Activities: Pilot and implement identification activities (e.g., CI selection, baseline needs, breakdown structures).
  • Configuration Control Board (CCB): Organize, lead, and control both internal and external CCBs. Manage pre- and post-CCB activities and communication.
  • Configuration Baselines: Establish configuration baselines (e.g., FBL, ABL, PBL) based on project needs.
  • Recording and Restitution: Ensure accurate recording and reporting of configuration status.
  • Verification and Audits: Perform configuration verifications and participate in Functional and Physical configuration audits.
  • Best Practices: Raise awareness, provide advice, and share best practices related to configuration management implementation.
  • Contractual Analysis: Support analyzing contractual requirements and preparing Configuration Management quotations during bid phases.
