Role:

A Project Manager role working on a Data Improvement Programme for a University based in the East-Midlands. The role is largely remote and is offered as a 12 Month FTC.

Reporting into the Data Improvement Programme Manager, this role will play a key part in managing the day to day delivery of the Data Improvement Programme and coordination of the activities of dedicated resources including co-ordinators and Business Analysts, to specific elements of the Programme. As part of the Data Improvement Programme, you will be aligned to the Transformation Office.

In this role you will:

  • Structure and manage the delivery of their Data Improvement Programme through the projects and tasks assigned to you, using robust programme and project management principles, with the ability to apply agile or waterfall methodologies, for best approach.
  • Ensure the delivery of agreed project outputs within budget, cost, and quality criteria and to agreed timescales
  • Plan and report progress against project activities within the Data Improvement Programme and into the Transformation Portfolio Office (TPO).

Responsibilities:

  • Project manage individual projects within the Data Improvement Programme to ensure it is delivered to time, cost and quality, ensuring benefits (financial and non-financial) are identified effectively, monitored and realised, all aligned to the universities strategy and key performance indicators.
  • To champion, promote and apply the TPO standards, tools and good practice, including a consistent approach to including business case development, project planning, effective communications, benefits management, risk management, issue management and stakeholder management.
  • Effectively manage the day to day design and delivery of Data Improvement Projects within the Programme, including the scoping of requirements and their translation into prioritised schedules of delivery. Oversee the effective facilitation of ideas, put in place robust governance procedures, manage progress against a clear and agreed plan, proactively manage risks, issues, and dependencies, manage available resources , and managing project budgets effectively and responsibly.
  • Showcase effective stakeholder engagement, management and influencing skills, positively contributing to formal and informal communications and collaboration with a range of colleagues and partners..
  • Support the commissioning, procurement and delivery of third-party providers, where required, who are engaged to support the delivery of business change projects across the university.

Experience Needed:

  • Relevant Project Management Qualification, or relevant experience of using such methodologies;
  • Demonstrable experience in the successful programme /project management of major business, people and process/system change and improvements in large organisations;
  • Demonstrable knowledge and skills in programme and project management to achieve lasting business and cultural change, along with associated tools and techniques;
  • Portfolio Management mindset, with ability to take an objective, holistic and organisation-wide approach to the effective delivery of change which puts staff and customers at its centre to drive and prioritise achievement of our strategic objectives;

Although not essential, experience of Data Improvement Programmes would be preferred.
