THE ROLE

As a Personal Care Formulation Specialist specialising in biomaterials, you will play a vital role in the development of personal care products incorporating our clients’ materials. Your expertise will contribute to the advancement of formulations that enhance the efficacy, safety, and sustainability of skincare, haircare, and cosmetic products. This position requires a deep understanding of formulation chemistry, and personal care applications, as well as strong problem-solving skills and a passion for driving scientific innovation in the beauty industry.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leveraging the unique functionality of Biomaterials to develop, identify, and modify new and existing formulations and technologies for improved performance and/or cost reduction.
  • Supporting the sales team and engaging with clients to discuss their requirements and understanding their brand-image needs.
  • Providing technical support to customers to ensure that Biomaterials work effectively in their process and application.
  • Translating customer application requirements into properties to direct product development.
  • Coordinating safety and efficacy tests and provide guideline to ensure sanitary manufacturing conditions.
  • Working with and understanding customer formulation challenges to resolve them.
  • Providing marketing content to promote Biomaterials at fairs and digital marketing events.
  • Effectively using project management techniques to drive projects to completion.
  • Supporting and assisting in the innovation process.
  • Ensuring that all aspects of good corporate governance are adhered to.
  • Staying informed about cosmetic industry regulations and standards, ensuring all formulations adhere to relevant guidelines and certifications.

SKILLS

  • BSc or MSc in chemistry, Biology, or related field.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in personal care formulation.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, EU regulations) and safety assessments for personal care products is desirable.
  • Passion for sustainability and a commitment to driving innovation in personal care products.

Travel:

Travel to customers in the UK and EU will be required on a monthly frequency.

Flexibility:

They may be able to offer flexible working options.

Working hours:

Monday to Friday 9:00 – 17:00
