Principal Structural Design Engineer

Balfour Beatty are recruiting for a Principal Structural Design Engineer to work with our Power Transmission and Distribution Team in Derby.
You will deliver such design calculations, engineering drawings and documents that enable a safe and constructable engineeredsolution. Reports to the Design Delivery Manager Structures
Assume the role of lead structural engineer for complex and non-standard projects as directed by the Design DeliveryManager - Structures.
Analyse and understand contract documents to determine scope of works, design parameters/methodologies, engineering programme, and budget.
Ensure projects are delivered to the engineering manager in accordance with the agreed scope of works, design parameters/methodologies, engineering programme and budget.
Review designs and design calculations produced by other engineers or apprentices to ensure the designs are appropriate and can be manufactured and constructed safely in accordance with contract documents and/ or current best practice.
Assist in the analysis and resolution of complex and non-standard design issues.
Identify, deliver, and undertake training as required to enable effective achievement of objectives.
Support the Chief Engineer Structures, to drive technical improvement, and identify innovation and development opportunities.
Bachelors Degree in Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Excellent structural analysis skills, ability to solve problems from first principles.
Experience with Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis, Bentley Staad Pro and PLS CADD/TOWER, or equivalent.
